展览选址孤山北麓林社,毗邻“林和靖墓地”及“放鹤亭”,典故与书画间的“鹤”遥相呼应。北宋名士林和靖先生之鹤穿过千年飞舞,徐、范两位先生的笔墨之鹤跃然纸上,当清风拂过柳枝,仿佛在向漫步孤山的游人娓娓述说那久远的传说。驻足林社,似能看到一只只线条和水墨化成的仙鹤舞动徘徊,怎能不被这身临其境、一眼千年的情形所触动?

善绘鹤意的徐邦宁和笔风潇洒的范知其,把和靖先生之鹤“请”回了孤山。

范知其,中青年时期长期活跃于国内书坛,得到诸如唐云、陈茗屋等海上名家的赞赏。90年代起,虽赴德留学工作,但一直坚持书法研究和创造,近年所成,笔法渐老,艺术史家白谦慎教授评语:“观其近作,如歌似舞,潇洒如故,只是竟有了些上世纪70年代上海书风的影子,这就好像是在海外呆了那么多年,乡音未改”。

本次联展的主题意象“鹤”是一种颇有神话色彩的的瑞鸟,是仙人的坐骑,也是使者,沟通着人间和天庭。而有着旅居海外经历的徐邦宁和范知其从事着对中国传统文化艺术的展示和推广,以自身这种融合中外的艺术风格去感染和影响更多的中国同胞和海外朋友,这也正如仙鹤一般,履行着沟通中国与世界的使命。同样的,展览的主办方如源文化传播(上海)有限公司也致力于促进在西方国家有影响力的华裔艺术家与国内艺坛间的交流与协作,得到了西方国家具有相当影响力的各界人士的支持与参与,如源公司将华裔艺术家在异国环境中的艺术探索,带回祖国,也展示中华文化艺术在海外的传承。本次联合西泠印社文化艺术发展有限公司所举办的这个以“鹤”为主题,两位旅居海外的华裔艺术家的展览,也正是为这种中西交流与合作创造了一个绝佳平台。

画家徐邦宁、书法家范知其联袂在孤山林社举办书画展,题为“鹤舞孤山”。以此为题,除了书画本身的题材外,也与宋代孤山居士林和靖先生梅妻鹤子的传说有关。

不过,徐邦宁和范知其都生长于上海,他们的书画,也多少和海派有着这样那样的瓜葛。在十九世纪,海派画家中喜欢画鹤的不少,如虚谷、任伯年等。近年来,一些学者已经注意到了海派和日本绘画的关系。有意思的是,徐邦宁曾留学日本,日本的屏风画从室町时代起,就常有鹤的题材,徐邦宁的画既有海派的渊源,也有和风的影响。

知其是我的老友。八十年代初在北京读书时,我们就有频繁的交往。那时他隶书写的多,宗法汉简,恣肆奔放。天津名家孙其峰先生,也钟情汉代隶书,见到知其的隶书对联,大为赞赏。后来知其去了德意志,我到了美利坚,联系渐少。三年多前,我海归到了杭州,如今他到孤山办展览,得以重聚。观其近作,如歌似舞,潇洒如故,只是竟有了些七十年代上海书风的影子,这就好像是在海外呆了那么多年,乡音未改。

两个长期在海外寓居的“上海宁”到杭州来办展览,让我这个也在上海长大的老海龟写下上面这些话,算是“阿拉”的翰墨因缘。

Painter Bangning Xu and calligrapher Zhiqi Fan jointly hold a painting and calligraphy exhibition in the Gushan Hill, entitled "Cranes Dancing on Gushan Hill". In addition to the subject matter of painting and calligraphy itself, it is also related to the legends of the Gushan Hill hermit Hejing Lin’s “plum as wife and crane as son”.

However, Bangning and Zhiqi were both grew up in Shanghai, and their paintings and calligraphy are somewhat related to the Shanghai School. In the nineteenth century, many Shanghai painters were fond of painting cranes, such as Gu Xu, Bonian Ren and so on. In recent years, some scholars have noticed the relationship between Shanghai School and Japanese painting. Interestingly, Bangning had studied in Japan and from the era of Shimakura, Japanese screen paintings often have the theme of cranes. Therefore, Bangning's paintings have not only the origin of Shanghai school, but also the influence of Japanese style.

Zhiqi is my old friend. When we were studying in Beijing University in the early 1980s, we had frequent contact. At that time, he wrote many Lishu, a Han dynasty script style on the bamboo slips and his style was unrestrained.

Mr. Qifeng Sun, a famous Tianjin calligrapher, also admired Lishu of Han Dynasty. He was greatly appreciated when he saw Zhiqi’s Lishu calligraphy.

Later I learned that he had gone to Germany and I had gone to America, so we had less contact. Three years ago, I returned to Hangzhou. Now he makes his exhibition in the Gushan Hill, we could reunite. Looking at his latest works, they are like singing, dancing and unrestrained as they were. In addition, there are some imprint of 1970s Shanghai's calligraphy style. It seems that even though he had stayed abroad for so many years, his local accent has not changed.

Two "Shanghai Ning" who had lived abroad for so long and now have come to Hangzhou to hold an exhibition. This event lets me, an old returnee, who grew up in Shanghai, write down these words, which counts the calligraphy fate between us.

多次探访中国的经历让我渐渐喜爱上了中国的文化和人民,并有幸结识了徐邦宁先生(字如源)且与他成为了朋友。在1986 年旅居日本之前,徐邦宁先生已经是一位有名的艺术家,他研习的是中国传统绘画艺术。在日本游学进修十数年之后,邦宁先生选择来到美国,并定居至今,他独特的融合日本绘画风格和西方装饰构图的中国水墨画作让我着迷不已。 近几年,邦宁先生又回到他的祖国,向他的同胞们与同行们展示技艺、交流切磋,此次将在杭州与旅居德国的书法家范知其先生一同举办一场展览,相信定然能收获无数观众的关注与喜爱。

邦宁先生告诉我,这次与范知其先生的联展,将以一种十分东方的动物——“鹤”为主题。在我的认知中,鹤的身上是颇有一种东方神话色彩的。在中国的神仙故事中,鹤被称作“仙鹤”,它们是仙人的坐骑,也是使者,这让我想到了犹太神话中的“天使”,同样圣洁和高贵,替上帝传递福音,为凡人送上祝福。书画艺术更是中国联通世界不同文化的使者,她超越语言,也跨越时代。

习近平先生曾陈述文化对于国家与民族发展的重要性:“一个国家、一个民族的强盛,总是以文化兴盛为支撑的。”文化会不自觉的产生强烈的辐射作用,以此来推进国家、民族软实力的增长。犹太文化与中华文化在家庭观念、教育和文化理念中有很多相似之处。目前中国正在大力推进的“一带一路”建设和“人类命运共同体”等价值观的倡议,传播中华民族的友善和热情, 促进中国与西方等各个国家民心相通,艺术交融, 合作共赢 。我相信,中国这一系列政策的实施与文化艺术的交流 ,一定会让世界各主流国家接纳并受益,同时肩负传播文化使命的中国艺术家与艺术作品将为不同国家的民众所接受和喜爱。

不久之前,邦宁先生特地跟我说了他为什么选在杭州这个叫孤山的地方举办展览。在中国宋朝有一位隐士幽居与此,种植梅花,饲养仙鹤 ,把她们当作自己的妻子相待,厮守一生, 自此有“梅妻鹤子”典故。在这迷人的春日暖风中,带着荣耀的沟通使命的仙鹤,将从中国宋朝跨越千年飞进了当代,从杭州(孤山)跨越万里飞向了世界各地,传递最真挚的情谊和最高尚的祝福!

Over my many trips to China, I have come to admire its culture and its people. I had the privilege of meeting Mr. Bangning Xu(Style name Ruyuan)and becoming his friend. Before living in Japan in 1986, Bangning was already a well-known artist. He studied Chinese traditional painting art. After more than a decade of studying in Japan, Bangning chose to move to the United States. I am fascinated by his unique Chinese ink paintings that combine Japanese painting style with Western decorative composition. In recent years, Bangning has returned to his home country to share and exchange his skills in painting with his fellow practitioners and colleagues. Bangning will be co-hosting an exhibition in Hangzhou with Mr. Zhiqi Fan, a calligrapher living in Germany. I am certain that they will receive the attention and admiration that they deserve from countless of viewers.

Bangning told me that his joint exhibition with Mr. Zhiqi Fan will be based on a very oriental animal, “Crane”. In my understanding, crane carries a message of oriental mythology. Chinese fairy tales refer to them as "Xianhe", the mounts and messengers of the immortals. The art of calligraphy and painting is the messenger that connects Chinese culture and others. It is beyond languages and ages.

Mr. Xi Jinping once stated the importance of culture in the development of the country and the nation: "The st rength of a count ry and a nation is always supported by cultural prosperity." Culture will unconsciously produce a strong radiation effect to enhance the soft power of the state and the nation. The Jewish and Chinese cultures have much in common. They share similar values of family, education and culture. At present, China is promoting the concept of “One Belt and One Road” construction and the “Human Destiny Community”; spreading friendship and enthusiasm of the Chinese nation, promoting

cultural exchanges, art, and building cooperation between China and the western world. There will be benefits from the implementation of this series of policies and the exchange of culture and art. At the same time, Chinese artists and works of art that carry cultural missions will be accepted and enjoyed by people around the world.

Not long ago, Bangning told me specifically why he chose to hold an exhibition in Hangzhou, a place called “Gushan Hill”. In the Song Dynasty of China, there was a hermit who lived there, planted plums, raised cranes, and treated them as his family. The Chinese consider the plum as wife and crane as son. They believe the crane will fly from the Chinese Song Dynasty to the present, from Hangzhou (Gushan Hill) around the world, to deliver the sincerest friendship and noble blessing!
